The way to yourself: how to choose a profession

Gestalt Therapy
Psychotherapy is a form of psychological healing using methods of personal interaction; it aims to help people change their behavior, become happier, get rid of problems, cope with difficult feelings, and improve the quality of relationships.
I see psychotherapy as an important journey towards oneself, which sometimes starts through life’s difficulties and pain, but is also exciting and sincere. Your therapist is a companion, advisor, partner, and reliable shoulder to lean on during the journey.
There are a large number of different areas of psychotherapy, both individually for adults and for families, children and adolescents. So everyone can choose the specialist who is best suited for you. After all, in psychotherapy, compatibility at the personal level is an important factor in success.
How does it work?
When a client comes to me, I usually ask about the request first – I ask them to describe very briefly what they plan to work with. Because no psychotherapist is omnipotent and has his or her limitations. For example, I don’t work with families and children. Only with adults and teenagers. At least for now. So, first, I find out if your request falls within my area of competence. If so, we arrange a first meeting, which is available both in person and online.
The first meeting is usually introductory. The client gets to know the psychotherapist, and the psychotherapist gets to know the client. Together, we set the key objectives of our work, discuss the frequency, certain rules and boundaries within which these relationships work. Clearly defined boundaries are essential for effective psychotherapy. We also agree on the format, frequency, payment, and other organizational issues.
It is worth remembering that it is difficult to get a general impression of a psychotherapist and his or her method after just one meeting. It is generally accepted that the actual acquaintance takes place over 3-10 meetings. And only after that, deeper work and cooperation begins. However, the acquaintance stage lays the foundation for the future working alliance. So I usually ask the client to give themselves time – both to form an impression and to see the first desired results.
Also at the first meeting, we choose the method in which we will work further.
